CAUTION
Turn off power to all devices connected to the system before connecting cables or
setting configuration jumpers and switches. Electrical shock or damage to
equipment can result even under low-voltage conditions.
CAUTION
The discharge of static electricity can damage some electronic components.
Semiconductor devices are especially susceptible to ESD damage. You should
always handle components carefully, and you should never touch connector pins or
circuit components unless you are following ESD guidelines in an appropriate ESD
controlled area. Such guidelines include the use of properly grounded mats and
wrist straps, ESD bags and cartons, and related procedures.
DaqBook/2001 and DaqBook/2005 each have three 37-pin connectors designated as P1, P2 and P3.
DaqOEM/2001 and DaqOEM/2005 have no DB37 connectors. Instead, these boards make use of three
40-pin headers designated as JP1, JP2, and JP3. A CA-248 ribbon cable can be used to obtain a DB37
connector for a 40-pin header. The cables are 9 inches long.
Signal assignment to connectors is as follows.
•
P1 and JP1 are used for Analog I/O
•
P2 and JP2 are used for Digital I/O
•
P3 and JP3 are used for Pulse/Frequency and Digital I/O
DaqBook/2020 has a P1 and P2 connector, but no P3. It does, however, have BNC connectors that are
directly related to certain P3 signals. The upcoming P3 pinout indicates when a signal applies to a BNC
connector on the DaqBook/2020.
To connect a DBK option to a DaqBook connect a CA-37-x cable to the appropriate DB37 connector
[P1, P2, or P3] on the DaqBook and connect the free end of the cable to the DBK card or module. If you
are not familiar with DBK options, or need refreshed, review the
DBK Basics
section of the
DBK Options
User’s Manual
(p/n 457-0905); then review information regarding specific DBKs, as applicable. A PDF
version of the DBK manual is included on your data acquisition CD.
