Repositioning the MKIV Joystick
Disconnecting/Connecting the MKIV Joystick
WARNING
After ANY adjustments, repair or service and BE-
FORE use, make sure that all attaching hard-
ware is tightened securely - otherwise injury or
damage may result.
For the following procedures, make sure the
ON/OFF switch on the joystick is in the OFF
position.
RETRACTING THE MKIV
JOYSTICK (FIGURE 1)
NOTE: The MKIV joystick can be retracted from it's
position in front of the armrest and maneuvered so
that it is parallel to the armrest. When the MKIV joy-
stick is parallel to the armrest, the wheelchair can be
SLOWLY maneuvered to allow the end-user to po-
sition the wheelchair at a table, desk, etc...
WARNING
Positioning the joystick PARALLEL to the arm-
rest allows the wheelchair to be SLOWLY
maneuvered up to a desk/table. ANY other
wheelchair operation is to be performed with
the joystick secured with the retaining pin in
the FRONTAL position - otherwise injury or dam-
age may result.
NOTE: To return the MKIV joystick to the frontal
position, reverse the following steps.
1. Position the wheelchair so that it is close to and
facing the desk, table, etc...
2. Pull the retaining pin securing the joystick in the
frontal position.
3. Grasp the joystick and push it OUTWARD and
BACK, until the joystick is parallel to the armrest.
4. Slowly maneuver the wheelchair up to the
desk, table, etc...
