7. Configuration modes and utilities

RS-232 slave mode

ScanPlus S Series - Installation Manual

debug / test datastring transmission (9600, 7, E, 2)

\41\4A\01\2D\60

- allows the ScanPlus to be configured or

controlled directly by the host system via the RS-
232 port

- easy-to-monitor character string (same as the

strings displayed with the EasySet "View - Data
String" command) but less secure than optimized
security transmission (no start/stop or checksum)

1. use the EasySet "View - Data String" command to obtain the datastrings for the commands

you want to send to the ScanPlus

Example: command for "Code 39 - active" = \ 4 1 \ 4 C \ 6 0

- if you use "display data string mode" (see above), do not use the last 2 digits (checksum)

2. activate RS-232 slave mode with the "debug / test datastring transmission" option and

reconfigure the standard RS-232 output parameters to suit your system if required

- the ScanPlus goes into "temporary configuration mode" (see "temporary configuration

mode" below)

3. send the commands from the host terminal to the ScanPlus (individually or as a list in a

batch file)

4. send "update current configuration" (see "temporary configuration mode" below) if you want

to save the new configuration you have sent to the ScanPlus

5. reselect your normal RS-232 interface setting (section 3) to quit RS-232 slave mode and

reconfigure the RS-232 output parameters to suit your system if required
