Chapter 6 Routine Maintenance
The ColorCoder V4 features an automatic printhead cleaning
facility with two modes, which clean the printheads with different
frequency, see chapter 6.6.
Perform manually initiated printhead cleaning according to the
following procedure, when you observe that the printing is faint or
otherwise of inferior quality, or when the printer has not been in use
for a long time.
There are two types of manually initiated cleaning:
• Cleaning (A) is used during normal operation when faint spots
are noticeable in the printed output or before mono-colour solid
printing (print density 100%) is made on full paper. It takes
approximately 1 minute to perform. See chapter 6.4.
• Cleaning (B) is used when the printer is installed, after the
printer has not been in use for a long period, or when faint areas
are extremely obvious in the printed output. In applications
where about 10,000 sheets per day are printed, perform Cleaning
(B) before starting the printing operation. It takes approximately
2.5 minutes to perform. See chapter 6.5.
Note:
• As the printer is capable of automatically cleaning the print-
heads from adhering dust and dirt, cleaning of the printheads
may occur before or after printing.
• In addition, in order to maintain a proper image quality,
cleaning of the printheads may occur during printing. Please
wait until cleaning is completed if this should occur.
• A small quantity of ink is consumed during the cleaning process.
