- User’s Guide
2.2.5
Programmable Main Board Logic (CPLD2)
A Xilinx complex programmable logic device (CPLD2) controls the PCMCIA interface and
provides miscellaneous main board logic.
2.2.6
LCD Panel and Interface
The kit supports a Toshiba LTM035A776C – 3.5” QVGA (320x240), active-matrix, thin-film
transistor (TFT) LCD panel, capable of displaying 262144 colors. The panel can mount in either
portrait or landscape orientation (see
Connector J17 connects the LCD panel to the processor card’s LCD Controller. Other displays can
serve in place of the Toshiba panel. For programming information, see the

Processor Family Developer’s Manual
.
2.2.7
Universal Serial Bus Host and Client
The main board provides a Type A connector for the host and a Type B connector for the client.
The USB signals connect to the processor card’s USB Host Controller and USB Client modules.
For programming information, see the Intel
®
PXA27x Processor Family Developer’s Manual.
Pads for a second host connector allow for future expansion.
The Intel
®
PXA270 Processor supports software control of the connection state of the USB client
through a bit in Miscellaneous Write Register 2. See section
Section 3.2.2.6, “Miscellaneous Write
Register 2 (MSCWR2)” on page 59
For details of the external USB interface, see the
Universal Serial Bus Specification Revision 1.1
and the
Open HCI - Open Host Controller Specification for USB
.
2.2.8
IrDA Infrared Transceiver
The main board contains a dual-mode Agilent IrDA transceiver capable of slow infrared (SIR) and
fast infrared (FIR) protocols. Bits in Miscellaneous Write Register 1 control the transceiver’s mode
power and speed. For more information about the transceiver’s operation, refer to the Agilent data
sheet.
The IrDA transceiver can initialize the Intel
®
PXA270 Processor Infrared Communication Port or
the Communications Processor UARTS. This IrDA transceiver can be selected by SW5.
2.2.9
PCMCIA
For expandability and versatility, the main board provides two PCMCIA sockets in a dual-
connector card cage.
CPLD2 contains most of the PCMCIA control logic. PCMCIA signals that are not routed to the
