).

Introduction

The purpose of this service bulletin is to provide
information for verification of correct values for certain
factory-preset tuning parameters.

The action described in this bulletin is not being
taken to address a safety concern.

Affected Units

All Intellipak™ units.

Discussion

Rooftop units with Intellipak controls (S-HF 20 through 75
Tons and S-HG 90 through 130 Tons units) contain
parameters - adjustable through the human interface
module - that ‘tune’ the control loops.

Values for these parameters are downloaded at the
factory. If the values are wrong, poor temperature or
pressure control can result. In particular, the following
symptoms have been observed:

Even with a call for cooling, the economizer seems
stuck at some position between minimum and 100%.

With a call for cooling, compressors are not operating.

On a VAV unit, the supply air temperature is offset 6 to
10ºF above setpoint.

Some units with serial numbers between J93K and J94D
have one or more incorrect preset values for these
parameters.

Corrective Action

1.

Press the SETUP key on the Human Interface module.
Using the NEXT or PREVIOUS key, scroll to this
display:

2. Press the ENTER key. Then, as you press the NEXT key

repeatedly, you will see a series of displays that show
the values of Control Algorithm Tuning Parameters.

3.

Figure 1

represents the entire list of displays, showing

the correct factory-preset values. Any particular unit
will contain only a portion of this list of displays.

WARNING

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Required!

Failure to wear proper PPE for the job being undertaken
could result in death or serious injury. Technicians, in
order to protect themselves from potential electrical,
mechanical, and chemical hazards, MUST follow
precautions in this manual and on the tags, stickers,
and labels, as well as the instructions below:

Before installing/servicing this unit, technicians
MUST put on all PPE required for the work being
undertaken (Examples; cut resistant gloves/sleeves,
butyl gloves, safety glasses, hard hat/bump cap, fall
protection, electrical PPE and arc flash clothing).
ALWAYS refer to appropriate Material Safety Data
Sheets (MSDS)/Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and OSHA
guidelines for proper PPE.

When working with or around hazardous chemicals,
ALWAYS refer to the appropriate MSDS/SDS and
OSHA/GHS (Global Harmonized System of
Classification and Labelling of Chemicals) guidelines
for information on allowable personal exposure
levels, proper respiratory protection and handling
instructions.

If there is a risk of energized electrical contact, arc, or
flash, technicians MUST put on all PPE in accordance
with OSHA, NFPA 70E, or other country-specific
requirements for arc flash protection, PRIOR to
servicing the unit. NEVER PERFORM ANY
SWITCHING, DISCONNECTING, OR VOLTAGE
TESTING WITHOUT PROPER ELECTRICAL PPE AND
ARC FLASH CLOTHING. ENSURE ELECTRICAL
METERS AND EQUIPMENT ARE PROPERLY RATED
FOR INTENDED VOLTAGE.

WARNING

Proper Field Wiring and Grounding
Required!

All field wiring MUST be performed by qualified
personnel. Improperly installed and grounded field
wiring poses FIRE and ELECTROCUTION hazards. To
avoid these hazards, you MUST follow requirements for
field wiring installation and grounding as described in
NEC and your local/state electrical codes. Failure to
follow code could result in death or serious injury.
