10 – PRE-AUTH AND COMPLETION 

(OPTIONAL) 

 

Pre-auth is used at restaurants for credit transactions when the 

terminal is NOT brought to the patron. Using pre-auth transactions 

allows you to enter a different amount at the end of the transaction. 

The original authorization is for the amount before tip (pre-auth) and 

the final amount (completion) includes the tip.  

 

Pre-Auth

 – Authorize the amount before tip:  

 

1.  Initiate 

Pre-Auth

 transaction on the mobile device. 

2.  On the iCMP

si

 terminal enter the clerk ID (if enabled) and press 

[Enter]

3.  Enter invoice# (if enabled) and press 

[Enter]

4.  Hand the terminal to the cardholder. 

5.  Cardholder inserts/swipes the credit card number or merchant 

manually enters card number. 

6.  If card number is manually entered, enter the expiry date. 

7.  Select the language is enabled.  

8.  The cardholder enters his/her PIN and presses 

[Enter]

9.  The cardholder passes the terminal back to the merchant.  

10.  Press 

[Enter]

 and the terminal starts to communicate with 

Global Payments via the mobile device and once the transaction 

is complete, the receipt copy will be sent to the mobile device.  

 

Completion

 – Complete the transaction for the final amount including 

tip: 

 

1.  Initiate 

Pre-Auth Completion

 transaction on the mobile device. 

2.  On the iCMP

 terminal, press the key that corresponds to the 

desired search option.
