Installing CBM for RAID Models
NOTE
Dual controller systems come with the BBU pre-install in the system while the FBM
may be default or an optional item. For details, please refer to
.
The CBM (BBU + FBM) will be pre-installed for you if you ordered it as a part of the
system. If you purchase the CBM afterwards as an upgrade component, please read
and follow the instructions in this section carefully.
The CBM consists of a battery backup unit (BBU) and flash backup module (FBM).
The CBM can sustain cache memory in the event of a power failure or in the
extremely unlikely event of both PSUs failing at the same time. The use of a CBM is
highly recommended in order to safeguard data integrity. The CBM is an optional
item for the single-controller model and can be ordered separately from your system
vendor. The CBM has to be installed on the controller before rack-mounting the
system.

Removing the RAID Controller
1.
Loosen the retention screw on the RAID controller ejection levers.
2.
Shift the ejection levers in the direction shown (indicated by the
blue arrows
).
The controller will ease out from chassis.

Please read the following sections on how to install the battery and flash backup
module onto the controller module. Always place the controller on a clean, static-free
surface and hold the controller only by its metal canister and never touch the circuit
board or connector pins.
