Overview (Fig. 1)
The extension arm is mounted as follows:
• Insert the extension arm
(2)
into the flange
• Screw in cylinder bolt
(1)
• Fasten cylinder bolt
(1)
using offset screwdriver SW4
Vibrations may loosen the hexagon nut. For your own safety check
occasionally that the boom is securely fastened. Tighten the nut if
necessary.
For safety the drive unit should be fastened to the
telescopic stand R
2723 (4)
or the
stand R 2722 (4
) using the
cross sleeve R 261 (3)
. The
weight compensation of the telescopic stand is of considerable benefit
when raising and lowering the unit.
In order to increase the stability of the apparatus, the
T 50 basic
drive
unit must be mounted as close as possible to the bar of the stand.
The dispersion tool
(5)
is pushed all the way into the drive unit and
fastened with the hand screw
(6
). The distance between the dispersion
tool and the base of the vessel should not be less than 20mm.
The whole unit may be arranged slightly off-center to avoid an
undesirable intake of air due to high rotation turbulence.
Check that the voltage listed on the designation plate matches the mains
voltage. Also pay attention to the ambient conditions listed in the technical
data. The socket used must be fused to 16A.
If these conditions are met the unit is ready for service when the mains plug
has been plugged in. If this is not the case, safe operation cannot be
guaranteed and the unit may be damaged.
Overview (Fig. 1)
Set the adjustment wheel
(8)
to the lowest speed before switching on the
unit. The set speed can be readby comparing the numbers on the scale
(9)
and the adjustment wheel. The speed can be infinitely adjusted in accor-
dance with the requirements of the medium to be processed by using the
adjustment wheel. The no-load speed of the drive unit can be set to bet-
ween 4,000 and 10,000 1/min.
Overview (Fig. 2), (Fig. 3), (Fig. 4)
Shaft:
The shaft mainly consists of the shaft tube, the rotary shaft, the bearing
and the shaft seal. There are three types of shaft for the
ULTRA-TURRAX

T 50 basic
:
S 50 N - / S 50 KR - / S 50 KG-HH -
and two additional agitating and mixing tools:
R 50 - Rührwelle / S 50 TT - W 40 TT
The shaft cannot be used alone. Only combinations of shaft and generator
can be used for working with the medium. The shaft is supplied with a cap
(remove before use). Use this cap to protect shaft tubes from damage
when not in service.
Generator:
The generator (dispersion head) consists of a rotor and a stator. These
parts can be unscrewed from the shaft. Note that rotors and stators form
matching pairs and must not be confused. Nine different dispersion heads
are available for various applications:
