The temperature transmitter
• detects the current
system temperature
and converts it into an
analogue output signal (4 ... 20 mA).
The measuring range can be scaled (minimum span: 50 K).
Factory preset: ASP = 0°C (32°F); AEP = +150°C (302°F).
• In addition, it provides extensive
monitoring and diagnostic
functions
.
By measuring with two different, thermically coupled sensor ele-
ments (NTC, PT) the sensor automatically detects drifts and errors
during temperature measurement with great reliability. Such error
states are signalled by a
binary diagnostic output
.
Sensitivity and reaction to different fault modes can be
programmed.
• If one of the two sensor elements fails, the temperature measure-
ment can be continued with the second element (
backup
function
).
• Very long-term stable measurement is achieved by using high-
quality sensor elements.
To ensure long-term stability and high accuracy of the sensor
during operation
- the probe must be inserted into the measured medium up to the
sealing chamfer (see scale drawing page 50, L1);
- the following limit values must be observed:
