PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
Thorough periodic maintenance (approximately every two weeks or after
printing of around 2000 m - 6500 ft - of document) considerably reduces
the risk of printer failure.
This schedule will however depend on the
operating environment of the printer (dusty atmosphere, etc.) and
the quality of the media used.
The periodic maintenance recommended for this printer consists of the
following three successive operations: dust removal, cleaning the
printhead and the platen, final check.
The IER cleaning kit (IER P/N
S32129A
) allows you to efficiently perform
these operations.
1) Removing Dust from the Printer Interior
CAUTION:
a) Open the right side door (see Page 11).
b) Unlock the printhead by pushing the printhead lever up.

Before starting any cleaning operations, make sure the AC
power cord and the data I/O cable are disconnected from the
printer.
