BitTorrent
The BitTorrent protocol is used to share files over the Internet. A lot of scientific and open source pro
-
jects are using this service to distribute files in the internet.
In order to download a file through BitTorrent you need to download the .torrent file off the internet first.
Upload this file by clicking "browse" in the BitTorrent main window. Upload the .torrent file to the NAS by
clicking "upload". the naS will start the download immediately if enough peers are available.
The BitTorrent Client is able to inform you about finished downloads by mail. For this purpose please
enter your email account information in the form which is shown after clicking "Mail setup"
Furthermore you can limit the upload and download bandwidth and select a target folder for finished
downloads.
Attention:
Setting up the BitTorrent protocol will cause constant internet traffic and this might lead to a
permanent internet connection on some router configurations. This can cause high internet costs at some
internet rates. So please make sure that you are using an appropriate tariff like a flat rate.
Attention:
The technique of BitTorrent automatically causes an upload of the files you are downloading
again. So please mind any copyrights of data you are downloading.
Distribution of copyright protected data without permission is illegal and might lead to severe
punishment. Also RaidSonic forbids you to use its Firmware to do so, by its license herewith.
