In contrast to configuration data, the EDS and user data
is read and written immediately from/to the EEPROM
when reading or writing to an address in the appropriate
bank.
Register Protection Level (RPL)
The configuration banks and the EDS / user data banks
can be individually protected against write or read ac-
cess. The register-protection-level (RPL) can be set by
selecting the bank using BSEL and then executing the
command RPL_SET_RO (read-only) or RPL_SET_NA
(no-access, no read or write). This setting must then
be stored in the EEPROM. To check the current protec-
tion-level of the selected bank, execute the command
RPL_GET. In general, access privileges can be lowered
(e.g. from read-only to no-access), but not raised.
