Adjusting recognition sensitivity
You may adjust sensitivity settings for recognition to obtain better accuracy,
depending on the speed of your computer and the background noise in your
location. Usually you do not need to adjust these settings.
1. Display VoiceCenter if it is
not already on your
desktop.
2. Click the ViaVoice menu
button and select
User
Options > ViaVoice
Options
. ViaVoice Options
is displayed.

Click the Voice tab if it is
not already on top.
4. Select the options you want
to change on this tab. Click
Apply to save changes, or
click OK to save changes
and close ViaVoice Option.
5. Move the Recognition sensitivity slider to Exact Match if there is a lot of
background noise and you want ViaVoice to be more critical in matching
sounds with words.
6. Move the Acoustic environment slider towards Noisy if there is a lot of
background noise and you want ViaVoice to ignore it. The more to the
right you move the slider the louder you will have to speak.
7. In the Recognition Performance box, select the performance setting you
want. A setting of Accurate on a computer with a fast processor, for
example, means that ViaVoice will be more accurate in matching your
sounds with words, but processing will take longer to achieve this
accuracy. On computers with slower processors, a setting of
Fast will
speed up performance, but recognition accuracy might degrade. For most
users, the setting
Automatic obtains the best overall results, since this
setting instructs ViaVoice to optimize performance based on your
computer’s processing capabilities.
