IBM System Storage DS6000 Series: Copy Services with IBM System z
For DS8000, port IDs look like I0000 or I0123, which actually breaks out as IEECP. The EE is
the enclosure number (minus 1), C is the card slot number (minus 1), and P is the port
number on the card. So I0123 is enclosure 2 (1+1), slot 3 (2+1), port 3.
For DS6000, port IDs range from I0000 to I0001 and I0100 to I0103, which actually breaks
out as IEECP. The EE is the controller number (00 or 01), C is the card slot number (always
zero), and P is the port number on the card (0 to 3). So I0103 is controller 1, card slot 0, port
3.
28.3.2 Path creation using the DS GUI
Path creation between a DS6000 and a DS8000 is no different from the process that is used
to create paths between two DS8000s or two DS6000. See 13.4, “Metro Mirror paths and
links” on page 142.
Paths in the reverse direction
The previous example showed how to create a path from the DS8000 to the DS6000. In
many cases, it is likely that you will need paths from DS6000 to the DS8000. Regardless,
having established paths in one direction you can then establish paths in the opposite
direction. Fibre Channel allows bi-directional mirroring over the same physical path.
Adding or deleting paths
You can add additional paths to an LSS pair by simply creating more paths. To remove a
path, open the Paths panel, select the relevant source machine and LSS, select the path you
wish to delete, and use the delete option from the Select Action menu.
28.3.3 Establish logical paths between DS8000 and DS6000 using DS CLI
You can use the DS CLI to establish logical paths. However, you must know the WWNN of
the target Storage Image. The three commands we will use to establish a path are:
lssi
,
lsavailpprcport
and
mkpprcpath
.
Determining the remote device WWNN
If you started DS CLI by connecting to the DS8000 HMC, then the remote storage device is
the DS6000. If you started DS CLI by connecting to the DS6000, then the remote Storage
Image is the DS8000.
How to determine the DS6000 WWNN using the DS GUI
1. Click
Real-time manager.
2. Click
Manage hardware.
3. Click
Storage units.
4. Click in the
Select column for the DS6000 Storage Unit, and from the Select Action menu,
select
Properties.
5. The DS6000 Storage Unit WWNN is displayed in the subsequent properties panel.
Determining the DS6000 WWNN with the DS CLI
In Example 28-5, we show how to display the WWNN of a Storage Image using the
lssi
command.
Example 28-4 Determine the WWNN of a DS6000
