4.1.3 SP frame redundant power supply (F/C 3885, 3886)
The redundant power supply feature permits feeding ac power to SP system
frames from two separate sources to prevent system outages caused by the
failure of a single ac power source. With this feature, the SP system operates
normally with power applied to only one of the two power cables. Two separate
power cables are attached to a special SEPBU enclosure having two
side-by-side connectors and four standard power books. No special voltage or
synchronization requirements of the two AC sources are required. The two AC
sources are galvanically isolated within the SP system. When both power
sources are operating within their normal range, the power cables share the
system load.
Input branch circuit requirements
The Redundant Power Supply feature is available for three-phase, “open V”
low-voltage (200-240 V ac nominal) and high-voltage (380-415 V ac nominal)
sources (F/C 3885), and for single-phase low-voltage (200-240 V ac nominal)
sources (F/C 3886). Figure 4-2 shows the rear of the redundant power supply
feature.
