IBM Netfinity FAStT500 RAID Controller Enclosure Unit Installation Guide
To install a GBIC, do the following:
1 Remove the protective cap from the GBIC, as shown in the following illustration.
2 If the GBIC you are installing has a metal latch, move the latch to the unlocked (center)
position. Slide the GBIC into the port; then, rotate the latch outward to the locked
position (flush with the rear of the GBIC).
Attention: To avoid damage to your fiber-optic cables, follow these guidelines:
•
Do not route the cable along a folding cable-management arm.
•
When attaching to a device on slides, leave enough slack in the cable so that it does not
bend to a radius smaller than 76 mm (3 inches) when extended or become pinched
when retracted.
•
Route the cable away from places where it can be snagged by other devices in the rack.
•
Do not overtighten the cable straps or bend the cables to a radius smaller than 76 mm
(3 inches).
•
Do not put excess weight on the cable at the connection point and be sure that it is well
supported.
DANGER
Some laser products contain an embedded Class 3A or Class 3B
laser diode. Note the following.
