To install a DIMM, complete the following steps.
1.
Read the safety information that begins on page “Safety statements” on page
viii and “Installation guidelines” on page 25.
2.
Read the documentation that comes with the DIMM.
3.
Locate the DIMM connectors (see “System-board connectors” on page 7).
Determine the connectors into which you will install the DIMMs.
4.
Touch the static-protective package that contains the DIMM to any
unpainted
metal surface on the BladeCenter unit or any
unpainted
metal surface on any
other grounded rack component; then, remove the DIMM from the package.
Attention:
To avoid breaking the DIMM retaining clips or damaging the
DIMM connectors, open and close the clips gently.
5.
Make sure that both of the connector retaining clips are in the fully open
position.
6.
Turn the DIMM so that the DIMM keys align correctly with the connector on
the system board.
7.
Insert the DIMM by pressing the DIMM along the guides into the connector.
Make sure that the retaining clips snap into the closed positions.
Attention:
If there is a gap between the DIMM and the retaining clips, the
DIMM has not been correctly installed. In this case, open the retaining clips
and remove the DIMM; then, reinsert the DIMM.
8.
Install the MPE unit or expansion unit, if one was removed while removing
the DIMMs (see “Installing an expansion unit” on page 32).
