10. Slide the I/O panel toward the right side of the computer (up, if the computer is
on its side) to disengage it from the computer front panel; then, carefully pull
the I/O panel, card, and cables out of the opening in the front panel.
11. If you are instructed to return the front I/O panel, follow all packaging
instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to
you.
Installing the front I/O panel
To install the front I/O panel, complete the following steps:
1. Carefully feed the IEEE 1394 (FireWire) cable and front-panel cable into the
opening in the front of the computer.
2. Insert the I/O panel into the opening in the front of the computer and slide the
panel to the left so that the clips on the left edge engage the opening (see
Figure 44).
3. Install the I/O panel screw on the front of the computer.
4. Reconnect the power switch/LED assembly cable to the back of the I/O card.
5. Reconnect the internal IEEE 1394 (FireWire) cable and front-panel cable to the
system board (see “System-board internal connectors” on page 7 for connector
locations).
6. Reinstall the drive cage (see Figure 26 on page 91):
a. Place the drive cage into position and slide it forward to engage the upper
clips.
b. Tighten the thumbscrew at the rear of the drive cage.
c. Reconnect the power cables to the drives in the cage if any were
disconnected.
7. Install the front bezel (see “Installing the bezel” on page 78).
8. Install the hard disk drive bracket, if one was removed (see “Installing the hard
disk drive bracket” on page 97).
9. Install the side cover (see “Installing the side cover” on page 76).
10. Reconnect the external cables and power cords; then, turn on the attached
devices and the computer.
