What should change if I want to install a second SMP Expansion
Module?
Use the following guidelines when you install a second SMP Expansion Module:
1.
When you install or remove SMP Expansion Modules, the server configuration
information changes. Therefore, you must use the Configuration/Setup Utility
program to change and save the new configuration information.
2.
If you are using the Windows 2000 Advanced Server operating system, you must
download the HAL from http://www.ibm.com/pc/support/. This HAL is provided by
IBM and is required to install and run Windows 2000 Advanced Server when two
SMP Expansion Modules are installed in the server.
Note: For more information about the HAL, see Tip H104697 located at
http://www.ibm.com/pc/support/.
3.
See “How should I connect the SMP Expansion cables (scalability cables) when I
have two SMP Expansion Modules installed?” on page 18 for cabling information.
What should be done if the system recognizes only the Lower SMP
Expansion Module during startup?

“Cabling” on page 18 for information about connecting the scalability cables when
two SMP Expansion Modules are installed.
4.
