Hot-swap power supply procedure
Remote Supervisor Adapter (RSA)
RSA event logs continually report ”IP: Unknown Higher layer protocol”
Description: The system will not power on after you remove and reinstall both power supplies
with the ac power cords attached.
Solution: When removing both hot-swap power supplies, disconnect all ac power cords from
the system.

Description: This error occurs with RSA firmware level 1.03 or earlier. It is informational only,
and it will be removed in the next release of the RSA firmware.
This error appears in the event logs when the RSA TCP/IP stack receives an IP packet that it
does not know how to interpret.
Solution: Update the RSA firmware. The next level of the RSA firmware is scheduled for
release in the third quarter of 2002. It will be available at the http://www.ibm.com/pc/support/
