Replacing
a
defective
cable
in
a
harness
If
a
cable
in
a
harness
is
defective,
complete
the
following
steps
to
replace
the
cable:
1.
Disconnect
both
ends
of
the
defective
cable
from
their
ports.
Do
not
remove
any
other
connectors
from
their
ports.
2.
If
possible,
remove
the
cable
from
the
harness.
Otherwise,
use
a
pair
of
wire
cutters
to
cut
off
the
connectors
at
both
ends
of
the
defective
cable.
This
prevents
someone
from
mistakenly
reconnecting
the
cable,
thinking
that
it
has
inadvertently
been
left
unconnected.
3.
Install
a
single
cable
between
the
two
empty
ports.
Use
a
wire
tie
to
attach
the
cable
to
the
harness
that
contains
the
defective
cable.
This
identifies
the
replacement
cable
as
belonging
to
this
harness.
4.
Label
the
replacement
cable
so
it
is
clearly
identified
as
a
replacement.
