If the analog signal source has a one side connection to
a local ground, the differential configuration should be
used. The differential input has two signal wires for each
channel and responds only to difference between high
and low inputs. The signal source ground and the AR-
B3001 ground will not be at exactly the same voltage
since they are connected through the ground returns of
the equipment and the building wiring. The difference
between the ground voltages form a common mode
voltage. The AR-B3001 analog input is designed to
handle a common mode limit of +/- 5 Volts. Figure 4-2
shows the correct method for connecting a grounded
signal source.
