1. Optionally power down the chassis by unplugging the power cords. If
performing a hot swap, proceed to step2.
Note: Steps 2 through 4 must be completed within 30 seconds if performing a
fan tray replacement while the chassis is still operational.
2. Unscrew the two screws that secure the fan tray to the chassis (Figure 17).
3. Slide the fan tray out.
4. Slide the new fan tray in and tighten the screws to secure it to the chassis.
5. If the device has been powered off, plug the chassis power cords back in to
power it back up.
Replacing a SFP or XFP transceiver
You can remove an SFP or XFP transceiver from a port and replace it with a new
one while the device is powered on and running.
This section provides information about the following tasks:
v Removing a SFP or XFP transceiver
v
Installing a SFP or XFP transceiver
v Cabling a SFP or XFP transceiver
Removing a SFP or XFP transceiver
You can remove a SFP (also called a mini-GBIC) or XFP transceiver from a port
while the device is powered on and running.
Before removing a transceiver, have the following on hand:
v An ESD wrist strap with a plug for connection to the ESD connector on the
chassis.
CAUTION:
For safety reasons, the ESD wrist strap should contain a series 1 meg ohm
resistor.
v The protective covering that you removed from the SFP or XFP transceiver when
you initially installed the transceiver.
