CHAPTER 4
FUEL SYSTEM
The unit injector consists of a pumping element (A),
a controlling component (B), and a nozzle (C) as
shown in the illustration. The pumping element (A)
generates the fuel pressure as the force from the
cam drives the plunger via the rocker arm. The
controlling component (B) controls the operation of
the spill valve and needle control valve by driving
the solenoid according to the commands from the
ECU. Finally the nozzle element (C) injects the
pressurized fuel into the cylinder
