4000 SRM 482
Two-Stage Mast Assembly
Remove and Install
1.
Operate the LIFT/LOWER control to raise the
carriage so that the forks are approximately
150 mm (6 in.) off the floor. Use safety chains
to fasten the carriage to the outer weldment so
that it cannot move.
2.
Lower the carriage so the safety chains are the
support for the carriage and the lift chains do not
have tension.
WARNING
Keep control of the lift chains when discon-
necting them from the chain anchor.
This
procedure will prevent the lift chains from
falling and causing an injury or damage.
3.
Remove the cotter pins that fasten the chain an-
chor pins. Remove the chain anchor pins. Re-
move the lift chains.
WARNING
Never replace only the worn section of a lift
chain. Replace the complete chain. Never re-
place only one chain of a chain pair. Replace
both chains.
4.
Clean and inspect the lift chains. See Lift Chains
Check, Clean and Inspect. Replace the lift chains
if necessary.
5.
To install the lift chains, reverse the removal pro-
cedure.
6.
Adjust and test the lift chains for correct opera-
tion as described in Lift Chains Check.
Clean and Inspect
Clean and inspect the lift chains as described in Lift
Chains Check. See Figure 23.
