Storage and Winterization

 Important: (Failure Will Void Warranty)

•  Due to the integrated mechanical and electrical over-temperature shut-off devices, Hydro Heater

TM

 unit will not

produce water that continuously exceeds 145°F. The burner will simply cycle off while the water keeps flowing for your

convenience.  The burner will cycle back on when internal water temperatures reach about 140°F.

•  Hydro Heater

TM

unit is ideal for many outdoor activities. Savu supports the Leave No Trace Principles that encourage

minimal impact to the environment while camping. You’ll find that less soap is necessary with warm water than with

cool or cold water, so use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Please dispose of your gray water responsibly. Wash

yourself 200 feet away from streams or lakes to avoid soap run-off finding its way to a natural water source. Contact your

campground or park to learn about their specific gray water disposal policy.

•  Hydro Heater

TM

unit will typically run continuously on one full battery charge for 2-3 hours.   Make sure to pack sufficient

propane fuel for the duration of your outing.  Maintaining your battery at or near full levels will increase the life of your

battery.

•

Continuous operation of water heater at warm setting for 20 minutes may cause the propane cylinder to freeze up. Let

the cylinder thaw or replace with a fresh propane cylinder.

Helpful Hints

Maintenance

    CAUTION:

WARNING: If the outside temperature is around or below freezing (32 degrees F, 0 degrees C), ensure

that the drain valve is opened and water drained from the portable tankless water heater after each use to avoid internal

damage to the water regulator.  You will also need to unhook the outgoing and incoming water lines to ensure that any

water in the heat exchanger is drained. Failure to properly drain your portable tankless water heater will cause water

damage which may or may not be reparable.  Please check the warranty information

Follow these instructions!

•  Disconnect red and blue quick connect hoses and drain before storing.

•  Turn off propane tank and disconnect gas hose.

• Clean water heater as instructed in the  Cleaning Instructions on of this manual.

• Charge battery immediately after each outing to reach optimum performance.

•

Replacing battery - Use only a 12-volt, 18AmpHr rechargeable sealed lead acid battery. Seek the advice of a qualified

electrician.

• Pull the battery out from storage straps and remove the leads

from the battery terminals. Place the connectors on the battery terminals making sure to put the red terminal on the red
