If there is air going in both directions during the U-test the bottom check valve is dirty. See
page #7 for drawing. The check valve must be cleaned. It can propably be done with the
RFX in its installed position. Follow the procedure described below:

Attach the M3 screw (M3x55) to the right threaded check valve element

(see page 7 point #1). Turn the screw further without pulling it down so that the valve is in
contact with the o-ring. This can release small particles from the surfaces. Check the result
with your finger.

If this is not enough the check valve must be removed from its position and the surfaces
must be wiped off. It is recommended to take the the  RFX unit to a clean room.

* Dismount THE RFX from its position, unscrew the hose connections without emptying out
THE RFX. Put plugs in the connections.

* Put THE RFX upside down and wipe all the dirt off the bottom block. Let the M3 screw be in
its position.

* Take away the safety ring and release the hose adapter. Clean the surfaces of the o-ring in
the bottom block and the check valve with a soft piece of cloth.

* Be careful hard tools can damage the o-rings and surfaces. Remount and check the result
with your finger.

If THE RFX does not work after this procedure the unit must be changed. Send it to your
dealer.

c. Oil is cloudy at operation

The oil is oversaturated with water probably due to a large intake of water somewhere in the
system. Check the places where water can enter the system and do repair it if found. Oil
change shall be considered.

3. Oil drainage

A small drain of oil can come out from the drain adapter. The amount is low and reduced
when the cylinder surface is polished. The amount is also depending on oil temperature.
Approximately 1-3 cm³/day the first weeks and after that 0,1-0,3 cm³/day. If there is foam
reaching the top block during the whole cycle much more oil can be drained. The vacuum
pump will then fetch foam instead of air. In this case the amount of oil that is drained is not
caused by a failure of the THE RFX. Drain oil should be collected in a small bottle. If the
drain volume is too large (>1 cm³/cycle) but the foam level is low it is a sign of seal damage.
Send the unit for repairment.

4. THE RFX is clean and easy to inspect

This control shall be made in the same routine as other components in the system.

5. A-distance is normal

To be sure of the normal values of the A-distance, it is recommended to measure this often.
It is then easier to make a diagnosis wheather the system is normal. Measure the distance in
different times, before and after filter changes, with cold and warm oil and before and after
long standstill. Note the figures.
