Operating the stove
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE LIGHT-
ING THE STOVE.
PLEASE EXPLAIN TO THE CUSTOMER THESE LIGHTING AND EXTINGUISHING PROCE-
DURES.
Operating the manual stove
The Carmen and Figaro Balanced Flue or Natural Draught gas stove operates with a traditional
permanent pilot light. The pilot light is located at the front middle of the coal matrix.
There is a fl ue spillage monitoring system fi tted to the Natural Draught appliance, which cuts off
the gas supply upon the detection of spilled fl ue gasses. If this system activates and the stove
cuts out, allow 3 minutes before retrying the ignition, noting that the control tap must fi rst be
returned to the off position. If the pilot will not light, allow a further 3 minutes or suffi cient time
for switch to reset. If cutting off persists, then a professionally qualifi ed (i.e. CORGI registered)
engineer should be summoned.
Important
The stove must always be ignited in the HIGH setting (this is when the knob is turned to its
extremity in an anti-clockwise direction) and immediately after lighting, the stove must be left on
maximum setting for fi ve minutes in order to warm up the fl ue.
The controls for the stove are located behind the access door positioned under the front of the
stove. To access, open the door by swinging down from the top.
There are two control options for the Carmen and Figaro appliances. They will all be fi tted with
the same rotary tap, that may be upgraded to have a remote control unit fi tted, to enable remote
HIGH and LOW operation.
All Carmen and Figaro appliances incorporate a thermostat, which will be activated by room
temperature. The right hand knob can be adjusted to set the desired room temperature.
