7.1 Troubleshooting schedule
Start
Cause
Solution
The product does not
start.
Out of fuel.
Fill fuel tank.
The engine oil level is low.
Do a check of the engine oil. Add engine oil if
it is necessary.
Ignition wire is disconnected from spark plug. Connect ignition wire to spark plug.
Incorrect electrode gap on the spark plug.
Adjust the distance between the 2 electrodes.
The spark plug is defective or of incorrect
type.
Replace the spark plug.
The oil filter is clogged.
Do a check of the oil tube and the oil filter.
The carburetor is defective.
Disassemble the carburetor and do a check.
Clean and adjust the carburetor if it is neces-
sary.
Incorrect ignition coils.
Do a check of the ignition coils.
Incorrect cylinder pressure.
Do a check of the cylinder pressure.
Incorrect valve play.
Adjust the valve play.
The cylinder cover is on correctly attached.
Tighten the screws on the cylinder cover.
Damaged combustion chamber.
Replace the combustion chamber.
Dirty air filter.
Clean or replace the air filter. Refer to
Expired fuel.
Empty fuel tank and fill with fresh fuel.
Damaged valve, gasket or valve retainer.
Replace the valve, the gasket or the valve re-
tainer.
No spark at the electrode joint.
Replace the ignition coils.
Replace the engine switch.
Starter rope is not
easy to pull.
Incorrect oil weight.
Change oil to correct viscosity.
Incorrect valve clearance.
Adjust valves. Refer to the manual of the en-
gine manufacturer.
Bent engine crankshaft.
Replace the crankshaft.
Overheating
Cause
Solution
The engine is too hot. Damaged cylinder gasket.
Replace the cylinder gasket.
Damaged sealing gasket.
Replace the sealing gasket.
The engine oil level is low.
Do a check of the engine oil. Add engine oil if
it is necessary.
