b) Replace the starter pawl assembly if it is
damaged.
5. Install the starter pawl assembly in the opposite
sequence.
7.4 Muffler
7.4.1 To remove and install the muffler
1. Remove the 2 screws (A), and remove the muffler
cover (B).

2. Remove the 2 screws (C) and remove the muffler
(D).
3. Remove the screw (E), if it is necessary to remove
the protective plate (F).
4. Remove the heat shield (G). To remove the heat
shield, do these steps:
a) Remove the spark plug cover.
b) Remove the cylinder cover.
c) Remove the heat shield.
5. Install the muffler in the opposite sequence.
7.4.2 To clean and examine the muffler
WARNING: Risk of burn injury or fire. The
muffler becomes very hot during operation.
WARNING: Risk of fire. The exhaust gases are
hot and can contain sparks.
1. Clean the muffler with a wire brush.
2. Clean the muffler cover with a moist cloth.
3. Examine the muffler for wear and damage. Replace
the muffler if it is damaged.
4. Examine the remaining parts. Replace worn or
damaged parts.
7.5 Air filter
7.5.1 To remove and install the air filter
1. Turn the engine around its axle to get access to the
air filter.
2. Turn the knob (A) to remove the air filter cover.

3. Remove the air filter (B).
4. Remove the screws (D).
5. Remove the plate (C) and the air filter holder (E).
6. Install the air filter in the opposite sequence.
