3.2 Subtending Application

The MA5606T supports Ethernet subtending. It allows multiple tiers of DSLAMs in a
subtending topology through the GE/FE ports. This helps to greatly expand the network
coverage. Subtending application suits scenarios where there are a large number of users.

The MA5606T can subtend with other IP DSLAMs or MA5600T service shelves through the
GE/FE ports on the main control and uplink board (MCU).

3.3 FTTN Application

The MA5606T can function as an ONU in an FTTN network to provide access to residential
community users. It connects to the OLT through the GPON port.

Figure 3-2 shows the FTTN application.

3.4 QinQ Application

The 802.1q in 802.1q (QinQ) application allows allocation of public VLAN IDs to user
packets with 802.1q tags so that the packets can be transmitted over the backbone network
using the public VLAN IDs. In this way, public VLAN ID resources are saved, facilitating
P2P interconnection between private line users across the MAN.
