3.7 ESCU
3.7.1 Functions
The ESCU is similar to the SCU in structure, functions, peripheral ports, and peripheral port
dimensions. It can implement 4-in-1 combination of transmitted signals as well.
Differences between the ESCU and the SCU are the following:
!
Bands supported: The band supported by the ESCU ranges from 921 MHz to 960 MHz
(900 MHz ESCU) and 1805 MHz to 1880 MHz (1800MHz ESCU).
!
The maximum input power supported at a single port: The single port of the ESCU
supports the maximum input power of 100 W.
The 900 MHz ESCU can be used with the 900 MHz CDU, the ECDU, the EDU, the RCDU
and the REDU. 1800 MHz ESCU can be used with the 1800 MHz CDU, the ECDU, and the
EDU. When the ESCU works with the ECDU, it can implement more than four carriers. Then
the BTS transmit power and effective radiated power of antenna ports are improved, and the
coverage of the BTS is enlarged.
