TBPU
The TBPU includes the following parts:

Signaling processing part (SCP)
!
Digital signal processor (DSP)
!
Carrier unit port controller (CUI)
Functions of the SCP are as follows:

Processing the signaling protocols of various ports on BTS, including:

L2 protocol LAPDm between BTS and MS
−
L2 protocol LAPD between BTS and BSC
−
L2 protocol DCL between BTS and OMU
!
Processing the L3 non-transparent messages.
!
Loading programs to the DSP and processes the alarms from the entire TRX module.
Functions of the DSP are as follows:

Signal coding
!
Signal decoding
!
Interleaving
!
De-interleaving
!
Voice and data communication with TRAU of BSC
!
Sending the signaling from the MS to the SCP
!
Receiving the signaling from SCP, and implements the coding and decoding according to
the relative protocol.
The downlink data are sent to RF signal processing unit RPU through the CUI.
The CUI is the port module between the DSP and the RPU. It is used to realize the frequent
hopping (FH) function of TRX. The FH by the CUI can be decided in the system
configuration.
Functions of the CUI are as follows:

If the system operates under RF FH mode, the CUI operates under non-FH mode, and
the FH is implemented by the RPU;

If system operates under base band FH mode, the FH is implemented by the CUI.

Sampling and filtering the uplink intermediate frequency signals from the RPU, and then
sends them to the DSP for demodulation and diversity combination.
RPU
RPU includes the receiver unit (RCU), the transmitter driver and PLL unit (TDP), and the
power amplifier unit (PAU).

RCU
The RCU provides the diversity receiving function. The receiver consists of two
independent paths. The input signals of the two channels mainly come from the antenna
in the main and diversity modes.
