2.3 RMON Configuration Examples

This section provides examples for configuring RMON, and illustrates the networking
requirements, configuration roadmap, and configuration notes. You can better understand the
configuration procedures with the help of the configuration flowchart.

2.3.1 Examples for Configuring RMON

Networking Requirements

Ethernet0/0/1 on the Router belongs to a VLAN.

As shown in 

Figure 2-1

, it is required that the network connected to Ethernet0/0/1 be monitored

to obtain real-time and history statistics of unicast packets on the network.

If the number of unicast packets in the VLAN becomes abnormal, the Router sends a Trap
message to the NMS.
