Checking the Drive Bay Setup
Ensure that the peripheral drives and the SATA drives have been properly installed and all
connections have been made.
Do not operate the server without drives or drive trays in the drive bays. Depending upon your
system’s configuration, your system may have one or more drives already installed. All drives are
accessible from the front of the server. If you need to install hard drives, see
“Installing and
Removing Disk Drives”
. Use only recommended server parts.
Checking the Airflow
Airflow is provided by four hot-swappable 8-cm chassis cooling fans. The system component
layout was carefully designed to direct sufficient cooling airflow to the components that generate
the most heat.
Ensure that all power and data cables have been routed in such a way that they do not block the
airflow generated by the fans. For more details, see
“Checking the Airflow”
.
Providing Power
Plug the power cord(s) from the power supply unit(s) into a high-quality 220 VAC source that
offers protection from electrical noise and power surges. A 110 VAC source will diminish the
output wattage and may impact the power supply redundancy. It is recommended that you use an
uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
For each node, depress the power button on its control panel, located on the front of the chassis.

“Control Panel Components”
