backup mechanism. Also, if you had snapshot volumes defined in the prior SAN storage
configuration, you will have to recreate them, as the storage recovery operation does not
recreate the snapshot volumes. Be sure to reload your user data before recreating any snapshot
volumes.
recoverSystemStorageRegistryConfig
Recovers the storage portion of the NAS 8000 registry so that it matches the contents of the
connected storage devices (both Dedicated Storage and SAN configurations). In an HA
environment, this command will de-activate the recovered volume groups and delete the HA
packages previously assigned to the node.
The text command operates in two phases.
1. The first phase is to reset the storage portion of the NAS 8000 registry to factory default
settings. This capability is useful when old storage is removed from a NAS 8000 server,
and new, clean storage is attached. The administrator may choose to stop this command
after the factory reset has taken place.
2. The second phase is to examine the contents of the connected storage devices, and to
rebuild the storage portion of the NAS 8000 registry so that it accurately reflects the
contents of that storage.
In order for the second phase of this command to work properly, the storage devices must be
non-corrupted, and contain LUNs, volume groups, and volumes that are compatible with the
NAS 8000 operating system. When recovering the volume groups and volumes, the text
command will attempt to determine the user-assigned names of the volume groups and
volumes by looking in the NAS 8000 registry. If no user names are found in the registry,
generic names are substituted. After the recovery, the administrator may change the generic
names volume group and volume names to something else.
