Processor and Heatsink
CAUTION: Be sure that you have the current version of the
system ROM. Failure to flash the ROM with the correct version before
installing or replacing the processor causes system failure. For the most
current version of the ROM, go to the HP website
(
http://www.hp.com/support
).
To remove the component:
1. Power down the server.
2. Remove the access panel ("Removing the Access Panel" on page
22
).
3. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
4. Loosen the four heatsink retaining screws.
CAUTION: Heatsink retaining screws should be removed in
diagonally opposite pairs (in an "X" pattern).
CAUTION: The pins on the processor socket are very fragile.
Any damage to them may require replacing the system board.
5. Remove the heatsink fan assembly
