This section shows you an example network topology in which the Series 2700

As a Desktop Switch
The Series 2700 Switches are designed to be used primarily as desktop
switches to which end nodes for power users, local servers, and printers and
other peripherals are directly connected, as shown in the above illustration.
Notice that the end node devices are connected to the switch by “straight-
through” or “crossover” twisted-pair cables. Either cable type can be used
because of the IEEE Auto MDI/MDI-X feature on the Series 2700 Switches.
