7. Remove any existing expansion boards blocking access to the system fan connector

Remove the system fan:
a.
Disconnect the fan power cable.
b.
Remove the screws from the rear panel.
c.
Remove the fan.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Replacing a Smart Storage Battery
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives and internal system components
to cool before touching them.
CAUTION:
To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all bays are
populated with either a component or a blank.
Procedure

Disconnect the power cord from the power source and the server.
4.
Place the server on its side with the access panel facing up.
7.
Disconnect the Smart Storage Battery cable from the system board.
8.
Press the Smart Storage Battery retainer down to release the battery, then lift the battery out of the holder.
