CAUTION: Do not operate the server for long periods with the access panel open or removed. Operating the
server in this manner results in improper airflow and improper cooling that can lead to thermal damage.
IMPORTANT: For optimum cooling, install fans in all primary fan locations.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Remove the primary PCI riser cage
CAUTION: To prevent damage to the server or expansion boards, power down the server and remove all AC power
cords before removing or installing the PCI riser cage.
Procedure
1. Back up all server data.
2. Power down the server (Power down the server).
3. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
4. Do one of the following:
a. Extend the server from the rack (Extend the server from the rack).
b. Remove the server from the rack (Remove the server from the rack).
5. Remove the access panel (Remove the access panel).
6. Remove the PCI riser cage.
