Amount of RAM installed
If you are running Windows 3.x, use DOS to find memory
information. From the DOS prompt, type
msd
. This displays the
Microsoft Diagnostic window. In the memory section, you will
see a figure for XMS (extended memory). This is the amount of
memory available to Windows. Example: 14841K XMS
In Windows 95, the amount RAM appears in the system profile.
From the
Start
menu, select on
Settings
and then
Control Panel
.
Double-click on
System
. Then click on the
Performance
tab.
Example: 16 MB RAM
Other CD-ROM drives
Your computer may have come with an internal CD-ROM or you
may have purchased CD-ROM drive. Check the documentation
that came with your computer or CD-ROM drive. Example:
Mitsumi 4x CD-ROM
Sound board
Your computer may have come with a sound board and speakers
or you may have purchased them separately. Check the
documentation that came with your computer or sound board.
Example: 16-bit audio card
Parallel port type
In general, computers manufactured after January 1995 have a
high speed parallel port (EPP or ECP). Check the manuals that
came with your computer to confirm this. Other computers
generally have a standard port. Example: EPP, ECP, standard,
bidirectional
SCSI adapter board brand/model
Check the manual that came with your SCSI adapter board.
Example: Adaptec 1520.
