Front panel
The CD-ROM drive front panel has the following components:

1 Headphone jack Use this jack to connect miniature stereo headphones to listen to
an audio CD.
2 Volume control knob Use this knob to adjust the volume level of an audio signal.
3 Drive Status LED When this LED is lit, it indicates self-test, system activity or a
drive problem.
4 Eject button Press this button to eject a CD. The CD ejects within 5 seconds.
This button does not work if the power is off or if the software
application has disabled ejecting a CD.
5 Emergency eject access
hole Insert a paper clip in this hole to cause the CD tray to slide out.
See the section, “Emergency ejection of a CD,” in this chapter.
6 Drive door The drive door slides out so a CD can be placed on the CD tray.
