6-12. Mother Board Replacement

When necessary, refer to other removal procedures.

HP 16500A

1. Remove the power cord, all optional modules, and top, bottom and left side covers. To remove the

covers, refer to section 6-10, "Cover Removal." To remove the optional modules, refer to the
Service Manual for each module.

2. Remove the power supply. Refer to section 6-11, "Power Supply Replacement."

3. Remove the microprocessor board. Refer to section 6-17, "Microprocessor Board Replacement."

4. Disconnect the fan power cable and the front-panel cable from the mother board.

5. Remove the six mother board mounting screws, then lift the mother board out of the mainframe.

6. Reverse this procedure to install the replacement mother board.

HP 16501A

1. Remove the power cord, all optional modules, and top, bottom and left side covers. To remove the

covers, refer to section 6-10, "Cover Removal." To remove the optional modules, refer to the
service manual for each module.

2. Remove the power supply. Refer to section 6-11, "Power Supply Replacement."

3. Remove the expansion interface board. Refer to section 6-20, "Expansion Interface Board

Replacement."

4. Disconnect the fan power cable from the mother board.

5. Remove the six mother board mounting screws, then lift the mother board out of the expansion

frame.

6. Reverse this procedure to install the replacement mother board.
