6-8. Repair

The repair procedures in this section are provided for the removal and replacement of major assemblies
of the HP 16500A mainframe and of the HP 16501A expansion frame. After diagnosing the defective
assembly using the troubleshooting flowcharts, refer to the appropriate repair procedure and follow the
steps provided. Table 6-3 lists the paragraph numbers where assembly repair information is located.

The HP 16500A is equipped with a standby switch on the front-panel that DOES
NOT de-energize the power supply when switched to the STBY position. To
avoid shock hazards capable of causing injury or death, disconnect the power
cord for all of the assembly replacement procedures.

After making repairs, perform the power-up test and all tests of the mainframe test system.
