5. Connect the DIP clips to U18, U19, and U20 of the mainframe interface card.

a. Connect the Data DIP clip (pod 1.0 through pod 1.7) to U18.
b. Connect the Address DIP clip (pod 1.8 through pod 1.15) to U19.
c. Connect the Clock and Strobe DIP clip (pod 2.0 through pod 2.4 and K CLK) to U20.

To prevent the +5 Vdc of the mainframe from shorting to ground, align pin 10
(ground) of the DIP clips with pin 10 (ground) of U18, U19, and U20.

6. Install the mainframe interface card into slot E of the HP 16500A. Connect the power cords to the

frames, then turn on the frames. The mainframe interface card should appear in the HP 16500A
System Configuration menu.

7. Run the Expander Test.

a. In the System Configuration menu, touch Configuration, then touch Test.
b. Touch the field closest to the center of the screen to load the test system.
c. In the Test System Configuration menu, touch Test System, then touch Mainframe Test.
d. In the Mainframe Test menu, touch Expander Test.
e. In the Expander Test screen shown in figure 6-36, touch Run, slide your finger downward to

Repetitive, then lift your finger. The Expander Test runs repetitively until you touch Stop.
