ThinLAN
A LAN operating over 5-mm diameter coaxial LAN cable. HP ThinLAN networks are
compatible with the Type 10Base2 standard.
transceiver
The assembly used to provide the physical connection and access to a LAN. It is the
device on the LAN that detects collisions. (A transceiver is also called a medium
attachment unit or MAU in the IEEE 802.3 standard.)
wiring closet
An enclosed, central point for cabling to meet and where signal routing occurs. Bridges
are frequently put into the wiring closet. It is also called a telecommunications closet.
