Battery Maintenance
It is important to note that in colder climates solar collection alone may not be sufficient to maintain optimum battery
voltage. If battery voltage drops, the Horizon Signal PTS system can be charged using an external power source, such as
a generator. The battery charger can be connected to a 110v power source by using the power adapter located on the
back of the battery box. See the chart below for battery charge levels.
If battery voltage drops below 11.5 volts, it can take up to 72 hours of constant charging to restore the batteries to
100% charge. Battery life and charge times will vary depending on temperature and sunlight hours.
SQ2 carts have 2 12V batteries each.
Specific gravity can be determined using a Hydrometer as seen below:
