Horizon Signal

SQ2 User Manual

5.  Set the number of programs. Up to 20 different programs can be created, each with

different green times for different times of day / day of week. If you do not wish to
change timings based on time of day/day of week, keep this value at 1.

6.    Set the green times for Phase 1/C1 (Carts 1 & 2). The first number on the screen is the

base green. This is the minimum amount of green time a given phase will allow without
detection. The second number is the extension time. The extension will only be applied
if the system is using some form of vehicle detection. If you are not using detection, the
extension will be ignored. Base green plus extension equals your maximum green time.

Rest in Red: When set to “Yes,” Rest in Red means that the given phase will only turn
green in the event of a vehicle detection. When set to “No,” the signal will cycle as
normal.

Priority: If set to yes gives this group green priority over other groups with priority set
to “No” upon vehicle detection. All other groups without priority are limited to their
minimum or base green times.

Unlock: If set to “Yes” the vehicle detection can drop out before a green is served (i.e.
right turns) . Must use true presence detection.

Red Extens: Set a maximum additional red clearance time extension in seconds in case
the work zone is not clear at the end of the regular “All Red” time. Must have sensor
using Red Clearance Extension circuit and must have “Red Extens” enabled in the PTS
Programmers “System Options”.

7.  Enter the Green times for Phase 2/C2 (carts 3 & 4), and/or each subsequent phase in

your system.

4.   The PTS Controller can calculate recommended Red times based on speed and

distance. Enter the distance (from stop bar to stop bar) between each signal, and the
anticipated slowest speed of vehicles traveling through the work zone. These values
will determine the “All red” value that is displayed. Using the “Arrow” buttons, you
can still navigate down and change the All Red interval as desired using the “Plus and
Minus” buttons.
