Troubleshooting Guide

 

OBSERVED PROBLEMS 

 

 

 

POSSIBLE CAUSES

  • Pilot does not start after installation. 

• Air within the gas line.

 

 

 

  • Pilot flame seems to blow out.   

• Air in the gas line or draft.

 

  • Fireplace produces odors. 

• Fireplace is new; creating burning vapors 

from paint.

 

• Hair spray, glue, or other chemical used in 

room settled at stove causing odor.

 

• Gas odors:

 CAUTION: 

 

Possible gas leaks.

• Strong gas smell. 

• LP (Propane) fuel may have additives or is 

poor quality.

 

• Excess gas pressure.

 

•Gas odors:

Possible gas leaks.

• Gas smell and/or sooting. 

• Logs may be positioned incorrectly.

•Pilot flame will not stay lit. 

• The O.D.S. has been activated.

 

 

• Pilot orifice may be clogged.

 

 

• Gas line may be clogged.

 

 

 

 

 

 

• Defective valve.

 

 

• O.D.S. affected by altitude.

• Pilot lights but flame goes out when knob 

• Knob is not pressed in.

 

 

• Knob is not pressed in long enough.

 

 

 

• Thermocouple damaged.

 

 

• Control valve damaged.

• Burner flame too low or will not come on. 

• Burner orifice is clogged.

 

• Inlet gas pressure is too low or LP tank may 

be empty.

 

• Control valve knob is on low.

 

• Faulty gas valve.

• Burner flame is not completely lit. 

• Burner ports and carry over ports may be 

plugged.

• Burners will not turn on. 

• One of the shut-off valves is off.

 

• Dirt on valve seal.

• Valve will not turn on or off. 

• Knob is frozen or foreign material has 

entered valve.

• Carbon or soot on logs. 

• Logs may be positioned improperly.

 

• Air mixer shutter on burner tubes may be 

obstructed.

 

• Gas type does not match valve type.

• Unsatisfactory burn. 

• Gas pressure may be incorrect.

*Only certified gas technicians are allowed to replace these parts.

 

CORRECTIVE ACTION

• Push the knob in at "PILOT" position and spark 

piezo ignitor for at least 10 seconds. If pilot does 

not light, repeat 2 or 3 more times. If pilot still does 

not light call a certified technician.
• Bleed air from line, eliminate draft; make sure gas 

is going to pilot.
• Ventilate room and let stove burn for a while.

 

 

• Ventilate room and stop using odor causing 

products while stove is turned on.

 

• See Instructions on front page.

 Let certified gas 

technician determine source of leak.

• Suot off gas valve then check with local gas 

supplier.

 

• Call gas company.

 

•  See Instructions on front page.

 Let certified gas 

technician determine source of leak.

• Review log set assembly procedure.
• Supply fresh outside air.

 

• Replace Pilot O.D.S. assembly.*

 

• Use air-pressure hose to unclog.*
